Tia McGraff Brings Back The Traditional Americana Sound In "Sometimes Love's Like That"
Stereotypically, country artists hail from a state in southern USA, most likely Texas or Tennessee. However, the contributions that our neighbors up north have made to the genre should not go unnoticed. Canada has blessed us with the likes of Shania Twain and Terri Clark. Now, newcomer Tia McGraff hopes to add her name to the extensive list. Her husband Tommy Parham often collaborates with her on many different kinds of artistic endeavors, and we love the work they make together.
Throughout her new album With Love, especially the standout track “Sometimes Love’s Like That,” the soulful artist effortlessly blends jazz and bluegrass influences into her sound. While beautifully poetic, her penning captures universal experiences and remains easy to follow. McGraff’s stunning alto vocals were just made to tell stories like the ones she does.
Her work has won her numerous accolades, including the emPower Posi Music Award, Americana CD of the Year, and two different first-round Grammy nominations.
As if her musical talents aren’t enough, McGraff is also a successful podcast host (Jake’s Place) and children’s book author (Jake The Road Dawg)! Jake is the name of McGraff and Parham’s beloved dog, a 12-year-old husky and Australian Sheperd mix. We love the ways that both projects have led to some insightful and inspirational conversations.
McGraff consistently adds nostalgic yet innovative qualities to country music, while developing her personal brand and her several talents. She is quite literally a breath of fresh air. We can’t wait to see where her creativity takes her next!
