JUST IN! Tony Brown, June Carter Cash & Kenny Chesney to Be Inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame

The halls of country music history just got a little more legendary. The Country Music Association (CMA) has announced its 2025 inductees into the Country Music Hall of Fame: trailblazing producer Tony Brown, country music royalty June Carter Cash, and stadium-filling superstar Kenny Chesney. According to the press release, the announcement took place at the Rotunda of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, hosted by Hall of Fame member Vince Gill and streamed live on CMA’s YouTube channel.

Tony Brown: The Power Behind the Sound

Few behind-the-scenes figures have had as much influence on the sound of country music as Tony Brown. As a producer and record label executive, he helped shape modern country music from the 1980s onward, working with artists like George Strait, Reba McEntire, Vince Gill, and Brooks & Dunn. Brown, who will be inducted in the Non-Performer category, has produced over 100 No. 1 hits and helped bridge the gap between traditional country and the genre’s more adventurous sounds.

"When you're producing No.1 records, you feel like you know what you're doing,” says Brown. “But being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame — especially for someone as idealistic as me —makes it feel like you've truly made an impact. And that has always been my goal." 

His storied career started in gospel music before he played piano for Elvis Presley and later became a key figure in country music’s mainstream explosion of the ‘90s. Brown’s keen ear for talent and willingness to push creative boundaries cemented his legacy, making this Hall of Fame induction a long-overdue honor.

June Carter Cash: A Legacy of Country Music Greatness

As a member of the legendary Carter Family, June Carter Cash was born into country music royalty, but she carved out her own path as a singer, songwriter, comedienne, and performer. According to the press release, her family is deeply moved by this honor. “June Carter Cash represents the whole cloth of Country Music, it’s breadth and heritage,” says the Cash family. “And June’s place in Country Music is undeniable.

From her early days performing with Mother Maybelle and the Carter Sisters to her solo career and iconic duets with her husband, Johnny Cash, June’s influence has spanned generations. Her spirited storytelling and signature wit made her a beloved figure in the genre, while her songwriting—especially penning the timeless classic “Ring of Fire”—secured her place in country music history.

Kenny Chesney: The Soundtrack of a Generation

With over 50 Top 10 hits, 16 Platinum albums, and a reputation as one of country music’s biggest touring acts, Kenny Chesney has defined the sound of modern country for over two decades. Known for his island-infused anthems and heartfelt ballads, Chesney has built a career on connecting with fans through music that celebrates life, love, and freedom.

“You don’t dare dream of being in the Country Music Hall of Fame, alongside legends including George Jones, Willie Nelson, Alabama, even Dean Dillon,” says Chesney. “I’ve been lucky enough to get to call them my friends, and that was plenty. But hearing the news I’d been voted into the Hall, I can honestly say beyond my wildest dreams, it’s an honor that defies words. I am humbled, grateful, honored…as much for all the songwriters, musicians, artists and people who’ve helped me build my career; they have truly inspired me every single day.” 

From his early days as a struggling singer-songwriter in Nashville to selling out stadiums across the country, Chesney’s journey has been nothing short of remarkable. His dedication to his craft and unwavering connection with his fans make this induction a well-deserved milestone.
