A Life Etched in Ink
Gilbert’s tattoos are more than mere decorations; they are chapters of his life story. “All my albums, they capture a chapter of my life,” Gilbert reflects. “If somebody wants to know who I am, what I’ve been through and where I stand, they can start at the beginning and listen through, and that’s why it was undeniable that Tattoos should be the title – because my tattoos do the same thing.”
In Tattoos, Gilbert delves into his victories, struggles, and the lessons learned along the way. He views his ink as a testament to his journey, a sentiment that resonates deeply with his fans. “People get ‘em for a lot of reasons, but for most of us, tattoos talk about our victories and losses, our struggles and the whole nine,” he observes in a press statement.
New Music and Collaborations
The album is a rich tapestry of ten songs, all co-written by Gilbert and his long-time collaborators. Each track is imbued with the same intensity and authenticity that define Gilbert’s music and his life. Among these is “Me And My House,” featuring Struggle Jennings and Demun Jones. This track is a defiant anthem that pays homage to the independent country rap scene. “I believe that all of us are the kings and queens of our own castle,” Gilbert shares. “It’s just about sharing how we run ours, what home is to us. I think it’s a song people won’t just relate to; I think it’s a song we need.”
The lead single, “Over When We’re Sober,” a collaboration with Ashley Cooke, is already climbing the charts, showcasing Gilbert’s continued relevance and appeal in the country music landscape.
The World’s Largest Album Release Party
To celebrate the release of Tattoos, Gilbert is set to headline the World’s Largest Album Release Party on Broadway in downtown Nashville on September 13. This event, part of the FREEDOM FRIDAY festivities, promises a multi-artist concert experience that honors members of the Military, Police, Fire, First Responders, and Frontline Heroes. The concert, presented by 1st Phorm Energy, will feature a helicopter aerial demonstration by the 160th Special Ops Aviation Regiment and a flyover by the 101st Airborne Division, adding to the high-octane atmosphere.
The Legacy Continues
With more than 8.3 billion career streams and a slew of Platinum albums and number one hits, Gilbert’s career is a testament to his fierce independence and unwavering authenticity. Tracks like “Bottoms Up,” “Country Must Be Country Wide,” and “One Hell of An Amen” have cemented his place in the hearts of country fans, and Tattoos is set to add another remarkable chapter to his legacy.
