Rediscovering Emotions with "New For Me"

"New For Me" transports listeners back to the early days of Taylor Swift, with its catchy hooks and earnest lyrics reminiscent of Swift's "Red" era. Porter describes the inspiration behind the song: "We recorded them on the very first batch of songs we recorded for 'In My Head.' So that was 'Therapy,' 'First Stone,' and these two. And so I hadn't even written 'In My Head' when we recorded these songs."

This track, co-written with Allie Dunn and Evan Cline, captures the essence of innocent, unguarded emotion. Porter recalls, "I was like in this big phase of early Taylor Swift stuff. And my favorite Taylor Swift record is the 'Red' album. And so there's a lot of reminiscent pieces of that. It was the first song that I let myself lean into the emotion and kind of have that kid-like, carefree approach. I wasn't taking myself as seriously. I was just like, this is how I feel."

Commitment to Artistic Integrity in "For The Good"

"For The Good" showcases Porter's dedication to authenticity and personal growth. Written over a Zoom session with Matt Willis and Kat Higgins, the song emerged from Porter's reflections on past relationships and her determination to seek something better. "That one was on Zoom with Matt Willis and Kat Higgins. And I think that I was probably doing my thing where I was like, I've been in all these bad relationships and like, I'm trying to break the curse," Porter explains.

The recording process, marked by experimentation, adds a unique sonic texture to the track. "When we started going to make a demo, it was just me and Evan Klein, and we were just really experimenting with sounds," she recalls. "A lot of the demo parts are on the final version for 'For The Good,' more so than a lot of the other ones."

Embracing a New Chapter

As Peytan Porter moves forward in her musical journey, she is eager to showcase a more lighthearted and authentic side of herself. "I think what I'm most excited about this next chapter of my music is I'm finally done taking myself so seriously," she shares. "I'm just like, I love my life. I have so much fun. I'm goofy and I haven't captured that in my music yet. This time I'm just letting my favorite songs that I can't stop listening to lead me."

This new approach promises to bring a fresh and fun perspective to her music, reflecting the joy and spontaneity that Porter experiences in her daily life. Whether it's a road trip with friends or a solo drive, she is crafting songs that resonate with those moments of pure enjoyment.

Looking Ahead

Peytan Porter is undoubtedly a rising force in country music, poised to lead the genre forward with her unique blend of heartfelt storytelling and engaging melodies. As she continues to evolve and embrace her true self in her music, fans can look forward to more captivating tracks that reflect her journey and growth as an artist.
