The new project is an extension of their wildly successful 2021 album For You. “The support from our fans for this album has been amazing,” said lead singer Matt Thomas. “It’s been 2 years, almost to the date, that we released For You, and we just weren’t ready to be done with it."
Within the four new tracks on the album, a standout has to be the tender Gonna Love You. Honing in on their signature sound, the guys once again deliver a top tier love track. In just a matter of three minutes, the band manages to paint a stunning picture of unconditional love. If you get lost, get lost of me, frontman Matt Thomas's signature croon sings backed by a steady beat. Needless to say this may be the next big wedding song of 2023!
Another new offering from the project is the high energy take on love lost. Is It Just Me offers a clever take on wondering if you made the wrong choice giving up on love. The bright chorus is painfully relatable, recounting all the things that heartbreak brings make us second guess. Full of vibrant sonics, the guys lean into their own and shine once again.
Rounding out the trio of new tracks is the blazing heartache ballad Wish You Never Loved Me. Written by lead singer Matt Thomas alongside David Fanning, Ashley Gorley, and Andy Sheridan is the cherry on top for a album that is full of Parmalee personality. The tender tracks narrates the highs and lows we all feel after loosing love. If I can't be with you, I wish you never loved me at all, Matt belts full of emotion.
“For You 2 is a pivotal moment for us.We’re so excited for these new songs to be out in the world. The music has a little different sound but keeps the same familiarity we have established over ‘Just The Way,’ ‘Take My Name,’ and “Girl In Mine.’ We can’t wait for everyone to hear it," Matt told All Country News.
The born hitmakers once again gift fans music that isn't surface level, but thoughtful and universal. For You 2 serves and a sonic love letter from the band to their fans. Steadfast in creating narratives that listeners can attached themselves to Parmalee once again solidifies their power in country music.
