Today country crooner Cody Johnson announced a release date for his highly anticipated album Leather. Cody teases the album earlier this year while at Country Thunder Arizona.
During an interview with Audacy’s KMLE Country 107.9 a Phoenix based station, Johnson made the announcement. He says it will include 24 tracks making it the “best round of songs I have ever recorded.” Known for his high energy live show ,Cody said the album will be themed around “fun."
"This round of songs, I have to say, is the best round of songs I have ever recorded and I feel like that’s the way it should be,” Cody said in a press release. “Each album should outdo the last one.”
To celebrate the announce, Cody has released brand-new tracks “Work Boots” written by Jason Afable, Brett Beavers, and Canaan Smith and “Watching My Old Flame Go Out” by Kat Higgins, Wynn Varble, and Clint Daniels.
Work Boots is a clever toe tapper that is right in Cojo's wheelhouse. Through acute storytelling and a voice that we can only describe as dreamy, Cody narrates the universal tale of blue collar boy who battles his nerves to ask his dream girl to dance.
Known for his inventive take on a heartache song, Cody's ability to pick an outside cut and make it soar is impeccable. Making us both hopeful and tearful, Watching My Old Flame Go Out tugs at the heartstrings. Emotionally stoic, Cody relishes in the fact that his old fame has moved on. Cody's innate ability to connect through song is something our genre hasn't seen in decades.
Needless to say, is it Novemeber 3rd yet?
