Austin Burke Reflects On Becoming A First Time Dad In New Single "More Like Her"
Being a first time dad can be scary, no one knows that better can country singer Austin Burke.
In April the singer/songwriter shared that he and his wife Lexy were expecting their first child!
"First, I just want to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the most incredible woman in the world. Not only are you my best friend, but we’re about to have a dang baby," Burke shared.
Overwhelmed with all the emotions that come with being a first time parent, Austin turned to what he does best, write a country track. The track even gets more personal with the track opening with the heartwarming actual heartbeat from a recent sonogram and immediately grabs the listener's attention.
'Cause you might get my stubborn pride/ Quick to speak impatient side/My restless heart sure is a Blessing and a curse /You might think I hung the moon /But you don't see that ain’t true Just take my word for what it’s worth/ Be less like me And more like her
The painfully relatable track tells the tender tale of praying that your little bundle of joy turns out to be a little more like mom and not so much dad's wild side.
"When I found out my wife Lexy was pregnant I was of course, excited, but also a little scared. Being a first-time Dad, I don't know much but I do know hope that he ends up more like his mother. When I wrote this song, it came from a place of love for my son, and because it was written with Scott Stepakoff and Rafetto they could help me channel my emotions and write this deeply personal song," Burke says of the new track.
Proudly independent, Austin Burke is a swift return to what authentic and real life storytelling can look like in country music!
