For Combs, Church, and Taylor, North Carolina isn’t just a state on the map; it’s home. These artists share a deep connection with the Tar Heel State, where their musical journeys began, and where their hearts remain. The addition of Billy Strings, who has long considered North Carolina a cornerstone of his career, makes this lineup even more meaningful.
The idea for the concert was born just as news of Hurricane Helene’s devastation began to spread. Combs, Church, Strings, and Taylor wasted no time reaching out to bring this event to life. Their first call was to David Tepper, owner of the Carolina Panthers and Bank of America Stadium, and his wife, Nicole. Their response was immediate: a venue, an opportunity, and a chance to make a real difference for the people of the Carolinas.
With tickets going on sale this Thursday, October 10, fans not only have the chance to witness a once-in-a-lifetime concert but to become part of a larger movement. According to this morning's press release, all proceeds from the event will be split between Luke Combs’ and Eric Church’s charitable foundations to support organizations that will directly aid those affected by Hurricane Helene. The press release shared that Combs’ contributions will support Samaritan’s Purse, Manna Food Bank, and Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC, with more partners to be announced. In additon, the press release shared that Church’s Chief Cares Foundation will focus on organizations with a proven track record of providing immediate relief to families in need.
As the concert draws near, there is an overwhelming sense of gratitude from the community. This event wouldn’t be possible without the support of David and Nicole Tepper, as well as a host of sponsors who share the artists' commitment to making a difference, including T-Mobile, Atrium Health, Jack Daniel’s, Whataburger, and more.
Luke Combs, who was born just outside Charlotte, is proud to bring his music back home for this cause. Combs’ roots run deep in North Carolina, from his early days performing at Appalachian State University to his history-making shows at Bank of America Stadium. For Eric Church, a Granite Falls native, the journey has come full circle. Church’s love for the Appalachian Mountains, where he wrote and recorded his album Heart & Soul, not to mention his hit song "Carolina" is a testament to his unwavering connection to the state that shaped him.
Billy Strings, though a Michigan native, feels an undeniable bond with North Carolina, calling it a second home. His connection to the state’s bluegrass legacy is strong, and his loyal fans here have embraced him as one of their own. And then there’s James Taylor, a living legend whose soulful, reflective songs like "Carolina in My Mind" have long been tributes to his deep love for the place he calls home.
